Chapter 1 - A New Adventure

Of course there wasn't a welcoming party or any sort of escort waiting for Leroy when he stepped off the plane at the Windenburg airport.  It wasn't a very busy place, so he was able to locate his black and blue duffel bag when he arrived at the baggage claim area, without much trouble.  It gave Leroy some comfort that the people here all spoke Simlish, and he was able to ask for directions to this Proprietor's Square place he was seeking.  From the sounds of things, it didn't seem like it would be too incredibly difficult to find, he was pretty sure he could manage.  Leroy figured that if he ended up getting lost, then that would mean he would just have more time to scope out this, new to him town, before arriving at his destination, HIS house!

In the sub-section of Windenburg where the house was located, there was no taxi service available, so the townspeople walked everywhere...that meant, so did Leroy.  So hefting his duffel bag up and over his shoulder, and he walked across the aqueduct and into the district where his "new" home was located.
As he made his way in the direction he had been told, he passed a bar, a cafe' adorned with inviting looking tables topped with bright red umbrellas out front, a building which looked like a nightclub and another building which appeared to a library.  The little city center of sorts had a picturesque chess board constructed with stepping stones and topiaries, a statue of, according to the plaque, Windenburg's founder, and a small clock tower that Leroy hoped would ring out a melody of bells on the hour.  When Leroy came upon a city map he learned that Proprietor's Square was just up and beyond the rising path before him!

927 Proprietor's Square was one of four residential homes in the district, making Leroy one of the lucky few who actually owned property here in this district!  There was a smaller two story home right next door, a large residence that looked like a renovated church and another dwelling that sat above the rest with an unobstructed view of the aqueduct that Leroy had crossed only a few minutes before.
From the outside, the house looked promising, but when Leroy unlocked the front door and stepped through the threshold, he realized that when the adoption agency had said "empty house" they had meant it!  Aside from some dark hardwood flooring, some questionable linoleum in what he assumed was designated kitchen space and some drab painted walls, the downstairs was barren.  Leroy ventured upstairs and was greeted with the same flooring choices, and aside from some tile work that had been done in the bathroom area and some blue paint adorning the walls, it was exactly as the first floor had been...empty!  Leroy had a little over $10,000 Simoleons to get some housing essentials like a bed, a toilet and a refrigerator, for starters.  He was hopeful there would be a housewares shop or flea market nearby where he could get some things on the cheap, that meager $10,000 Simoleons he had to his name would disappear fast!
